As a student of computer science I was happy to find Mr Tides, a tool to automatically create customized website using various application for Mac OS X and Linux. Being one of the new programs that have been released for Mac, it is always good to know that there are more coming on the market. This is a Free Application as advertised in their website. But that being said, this free program would require you to pay a one time (Unlock) fee to be able to upgrade your application with any of the additional features.
But let's talk about some of the main functions and features available in the available application. The first area is what I like the most, the ability to customize my websites with full HTML code. After all, these types of applications will be used by others. Now this can be done quite easily, as you have the option to control the HTML code that you want added or edited. Next, if you are the type of person who is very active with your computer screen, you can add the option to open a hidden menu called "Split" to organize items on your desktop. You will even be able to see the folder structure so that you can determine which item goes where.
However, there are several functions of the application that I am not too fond of. For example, the amount of space it takes up when running the application. You have the option to choose how much space is used, but this can be difficult to determine with all the applications that I have installed on my system. Also, you will need to be able to be notified whenever there is a new version of Mr Tides that is released. Unfortunately, if this feature is enabled it will take up a lot of my time to update my system and is often forgotten when using the application. Overall, I think Mr Tides is a good application but only if you already know how to use it and how to change the features. For those looking for free Mac software I recommend installing and using the paid version of the application to begin, because you will find that the free version lacks a lot of functionality.
